Child Care Challenge

I was very thief-like.  I wasn’t satisfied with the shoes that I had brought for the trip, so I sneaked into my sister’s closet and borrowed a pair of her shoes (I actually gave her these shoes, so maybe it doesn’t count as thieving?).  I literally only wore these shoes for the pictures, since we stayed in the house most of the day taking care of my little nephew.

So, in case you were wondering what to wear when you are helping take care of your sweet baby relative, this can be your go-to ouftit.  The off-white color helps to mask any splashes of urine that may have accidentally found its way onto your shirt (yes, I was sprayed on, but after these pictures were taken).  Plus, the cotton will make it easier to pre-wash when you do your laundry (see, I thought ahead!).  Also, if you need to hide wrinkles in your top, use a big handbag to help cover you up.  The minimal jewelry is also a must, just in case someone gets a little grabby.  And of course, a pair of worn-in jeans helps to keep things casual yet comfortable.

So, my theme for this week is:  clothes that you can wear both in and out of the house when taking care of little tots (you can put imaginary quotation marks around that if you’d like).  It also helps that I’m not the only one helping to take care of the little guy; these outfits would obviously not be possible if there weren’t extra hands to help out the working parents.  But, I will do my best to come up with comfortable yet interesting outfits that will hopefully be versatile for any hands-on work you might have to do.

Just another tip:  it helps to wear clothes that are on the old(er) side.  This shirt is about three years old, the blouse is about nine years old, and the jeans are six years old (I know–there I go with my old clothes again).  So, no fancy outfits this week, but I still plan on having fun (with the baby and with the different outfits).

To recap:  make sure you can borrow shoes (or clothes) in case you’re not satisfied with what you have, wear clothes that can be easily washed in case of any possible accidents, and remember to keep comfortable.  Happy Monday!
