Bellwether Blues
Posted: July 21, 2012 Filed under: Have A Nice Day | Tags: Necklaces, Purses, Vests, Vintage Leave a commentIt’s not quite sweater weather yet, but when there is a slight chill in the air (or the air conditioning is on full blast), I do like to layer. I especially like the versatility of wearing vests; you can wear them year-round. Unfortunately, when it gets too hot, I have to retire this particular vest. But, on a day where you can stand to wear something for extra warmth, this vest is the way to go.
Some days I’m in the mood to wear a certain color. Blue was the color of choice for this outfit for what was supposed to be a simple mall outing (we ended up leaving the mall past midnight because of a traffic debacle, and so, to avoid idling in our car, we went to the movie theater and caught a late night show).
I added something from our Japan trip to my purse. The bell makes a “jingle-jangle” every time I step. I suppose it’s my way of making sure I don’t get lost in the crowd as well as having a memento of vacation to hold onto (sorry you have to witness a close-up of my dry hand).
What trends do you like to wear year-round? Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend!

Graduation Then Vacation
Posted: May 16, 2012 Filed under: Have A Nice Day | Tags: Bracelets, Dresses, Flats, Necklaces, Sunglasses, Thrifted Leave a commentIf you were ever wondering, I burn first, and then I tan. I was reminded of this last Saturday at Chris’s graduation where my shoulders got almost fried. But on a positive note, it was a beautiful day!
After graduation, all of us (Chris’s family came down for the day to celebrate) took a little trip and ate at the Inner Harbor. Then, Chris and I ended the day with a neat photo shoot by the American Visionary Art Museum (a wedding and an engagement shoot were happening nearby–it was a popular place for taking pictures!).
This week is going by fast. And by fast, I mean I wake up, I eat, I work, I eat, I sleep, only to wake up a few hours later and start all over again. In the midst of all of that, I’ve been preparing to go on vacation. Don’t worry–when we come back, I’ll share pictures from our trip.
Thanks for stopping by! I’ll see you in two weeks!

Boots Fantastic
Posted: April 2, 2012 Filed under: Have A Nice Day, Oh My Cuteness | Tags: Boots, Cover Ups, Leggings, Necklaces, Purses, Shorts, Socks Leave a commentIt was a fun weekend. Chris and I took a short trip where we got to catch up with family and catch up on sleep (although I still felt like I was in a daze the whole weekend–unfortunately, prolonged sleep deprivation equals poor speech and comprehension skills).
I was convinced to wear my boots when I happened to see someone in the city wearing a very similar outfit with booties the day before (I even muttered “that’s my outfit” as I passed her because I was surprised to see someone wearing something that I had planned to wear for the next day). Actually, if the ground wasn’t wet with rain, I probably would have worn my new black shoes instead (alas, I’ll have to save the shoes for another day).
This is my latest vintage Coach purse. I think I’m addicted to buying old purses.
Chris and I took some pictures and got to take a stroll before we headed home. It was the perfect way to end the weekend. Hope you have a good week!
P.S. I noticed that there is always something interesting to my left. I couldn’t tell you exactly what.

Posted: March 10, 2012 Filed under: Have Fun Tonight, Mirror, Mirror | Tags: Camisoles, Heels, Jeggings, Necklaces, Sweaters Leave a commentSome people must wear jeans on their off work days. I must wear either skinny pants, jeggings, or leggings. I can’t get enough of them; I wear at least one of these types of bottoms almost every weekend. I’m in the camp that thinks that they’re so comfortable and are the perfect complement to the many loose, blousy fitting tops that I own. So, it goes to show, that I would wear my black jeggings with a flowy top for a girls’ night out. Unfortunately, since it was girls’ night out, Chris made his own plans, so I had no other choice but to use my back-up–my trusty mirror–to highlight my outfit.
I had no idea what to wear initially, but I knew I could style everything around my black jeggings. Plus, I figured that anything that doesn’t look dressy enough can be dressed up with the right accessories. My number one goal is to be comfortable with what I’m wearing. The last thing I want is to be overly self-conscious about my clothes when I’m out to have a good time. So, on the comfort list I have: 1) a pair of well-worn jeggings (check), 2) a fun, flowy top (check), 3) a cute sweater to keep me warm (check), and 4) rockin’ jewelry to liven up my look (check for the earrings and necklace).
I also decided to wear my go-to heels because I knew that would instantly dress up my outfit. Luckily, they’ve been broken in so they didn’t hurt my feet at all (I’m all for heels as long as I don’t end up limping in agony at the end of the night).
And–ta-da!–instant outfit–and I didn’t have to go shopping for it (this time). What do you like to wear for a night out on the town?

Let’s Reconnect
Posted: March 3, 2012 Filed under: Have Fun Tonight, Somebody's Old Clothes to Love, Steppin' Out | Tags: Bracelets, Dresses, Earrings, Flats, Jackets, Necklaces, Tights Leave a commentI apologize to the one (or two) person(s) reading this blog: my every intention is to have two posts per week, but alas, at this point, I can’t do this on a consistent basis (cue sad trombone). I hope in the future, I will inundate this blog with more outfits and musings (this shall be my New Year’s resolution–it’s not too late to make any, is it?).
With that in mind, my outfit for the week comes courtesy of last Saturday. We attended a celebratory dinner and got a chance to catch up with old friends. I feel that’s what I’m doing more and more of every year; reconnecting with people whom I haven’t seen in a very long time. So, yet another resolution of mine is to spend more quality time with friends (good friends=good fun).
I really love this dress (it’s got pockets!). I bought it at Old Navy a few years ago, and so far, I’ve worn it for Christmas, a wedding, and now a dinner. I would probably wear it more if I didn’t care if the same people saw me wear it over and over again. In fact, maybe I should add this to my list of resolutions (it’s growing really fast now); I’ll try to be less self-conscious about what clothes I wear. That way, I can wear the same thing as many times as I want and not feel guilty about it.
Speaking of guilty, I hate to leave now (it was so great catching up!), but I must attend to some daily chores (don’t worry–I enjoy blogging more than cleaning, but unfortunately, during the work week, I leave our apartment a little on the filthy side). I plan on showcasing a new outfit next week. See you soon!
P.S. If you were wondering, yes, it looks like my head is going to fall off in that last picture (that might be why I appear to be giving the evil eye).

Warm All Over
Posted: February 2, 2012 Filed under: Have Fun Tonight, Oh My Cuteness, Pop Culture Obsessions, Steppin' Out | Tags: Dresses, Heels, Necklaces, Sweaters, Tights Leave a commentIt’s Groundhog Day! And with Punxsutawney Phil predicting six more weeks of winter, I give you a fun, respectable, wintry going-out outfit. Okay, these are my much delayed pictures of my holiday party dress (sorry for the poor quality; we were running late), but here they are, nonetheless, on the cutest American holiday of the year (note: I get a kick out of seeing furry, mammalian creatures, that think they are people).
I changed my outfit at the last minute. I originally wanted to wear the dress that I ended up wearing for Cool Look for the Cold, but then I realized that it was a tad too short for a company event. Instead, I opted for a more demure look. The lace trim is my favorite part of this dress. I bought this dress for about $7 at Target a couple of years ago. I think this was one of my best finds.
I covered up with a light sweater and black tights. Sweaters and tights are my clothing of choice this season; I like how you can feel dressed up but still be relatively comfortable. I just might have to buy myself a pair of sweater tights to get the best of both worlds.
Speaking of comfort, I hope to end my day with a yummy dinner and a viewing of the highlights from today’s Groundhog Day events. Think warm thoughts!
P.S. When I heard of Potomac Phil, a groundhog that made its appearance in DC, I was not anticipating this.
